Summer Adventures: The last day of school

The summer began with the ending of my 9th year of teaching.  I have had many educational hats during these years, my most recent job has been as an Education Specialist, supporting students with mild to moderate disabilities (ADHD, autism, dyslexia, Down's Syndrome, etc.).  The last project I did with my students used the metaphor of a road to imagine their lives in the future and make plans for attaining their dreams.  Here are two of my favorite student projects:

A perfect replica of A.'s neighborhood, down to the trellis and vine and my student mowing his lawn out front

R. captured the spirit of this project beautifully!  It starts at our middle school and follows him to college, getting his first car, getting married, having twins, entering art school and landing the "Best Job" as a cartoonist.
